“Music has positive affects on people’s emotions and creativity. When we sing together, we synchronize our breathing and feel more connected.”
I love the power of music, and that I get to invest into the next generation of amazing Rockstars! I too was a little Rockstar..a bit shy in primary school, and came gloriously out of my shell in high school..although I still lacked the confidence in myself for many years after. Whether they love to sing, dance, act, shy away from or love the spotlight, they will LOVE our encouraging, entertaining & educational school holiday workshops. Check out our previous workshops & to see what’s coming next!
The kids had such a blast in Aprils’ Musical Theatre Workshop!! Children gained confidence & learnt new skills while having fun & making new friends. They said their favourite part was getting to act & having their own special part in the play. They also loved singing on the microphones & performing in front of all the parents at the end.

January’s school holidays saw a new workshop “YOUR UNIQUE VOICE” singing & songwriting workshop come to life. Children got creative, writing lyrics & learning about vocal technique as they worked with singer songwriter Lauren Ann.
We did a time of Music therapy & reflection, creating something together as a group as well as working individually on their songs. At the end they performed for a live audience & built their confidence. This workshop was a lot more of a quieter creative space than our usual crazy workshops, children getting to build their own forts & relax in the space.
It was good we had fewer numbers as it gave children a chance to create & work one on one with Lauren & get feedback from others.
My aim was to see the children grow in who they are & find their own unique voice. Writing an amazing song & gaining confidence just came out of the overflow.
So what happened in 2016??
We had so much fun in our Rockstar Recording & Musical Theatre workshops..
The kids recorded a song, played games & got to experience a live studio environment in our Rockstar & Recording workshop, and in our Musical theatre, we learnt all about vocal & microphone technique, the kids performing for each other, and then together as a group for the parents at the end, they learnt about drama, we played improvisation games, we talked about lots of different performance techniques & they had loads of fun!
In July we ran our first Media & special effects workshop which the kids LOVED. As well as getting dressed up in costumes & Rocking it out on our “Live stage” (Youtube video can be found here) they played games, ate lots of yummy food & learnt all about the editing process from Lachie, our new videographer & editer.
Our Recording workshop was another favourite, participants experiencing a studio recording environment, recording a song together as a group & individually in their own special parts. The children learnt about vocal technique, microphone technique & the studio, enjoying a lollie buffet, snacks, drinks, games & activities. They learnt from myself, a professional singer songwriter & vocal coach & Mark Parris, a professional audio engineer & lecturer. Activities were broken up throughout the day with regular breaks, however this workshop was jam packed and it wasn’t for the faint hearted!! The kids did so well concentrating for the 3 hours, and I was one proud teacher. They also loved my Jessie J accent, & me going into vocal coaching mode just like on The Voice. They had such a good time learning & recording & your child could be the next star! To join us for the next school holiday workshops, please find the details below. We would love to meet you.
In September/October we ran our very own “Rockstars Got Talent” Workshop where the little Rockstars learnt about singing, songwriting, as well as being critiqued for their performance work & had a blast performing in front of each other, each working one-on-one with singer songwriter Lauren Ann on their songs. The showcase at the end for the parents was great fun, many parents remarking how happy their kids looked after being part of the day. I loved watching them grow in confidence & skill during the workshop.
Our Music & Media workshop went off with a bang, kids spending the day learning vocal technique, performance, & got dressed up in crazy costumes. We played drama games, learnt about editing & the kids got to star in their own movie in front of the green screen & under the lights. They loved being part of the show, and meeting new friends. What an awesome holidays!
But don’t just take it from me.. Here’s the boys testimony from our Music & Media workshop..

“My daughter attended the Make me a Rockstar workshop and she thoroughly enjoyed it. It was good that ice breaker games were played at the beginning as I was a bit worried how she would go seeing as she didn’t know any other kids there. I really liked that all the kids had to write something positive down on a piece of paper about each other. My daughter now has this piece of paper stuck on her bedroom wall. It was a great introduction to singing lessons, it was a first experience for us. I really enjoyed the little concert at the end of the workshop and was surprised how well the kids performed. It was impressive that they learnt two new songs during the course of the workshop. I liked how Lauren started building rapport with each child as they arrived, paid them a compliment to make them feel welcome and comfortable.”
All workshops & activities are led by professional singers and entertainers, dancers and entertainers who are experienced working with children of all ages & have all relevant insurances and checks.
All workshops are followed by a showcase for friends & family.
And of course, you can just hear it from the kids themselves..
To register interest call/text Lauren on 0414614965 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
